Advent 2013 Day 12 & 13

Day 12 -

• Bible Story: Ten ways to be perfect

• Activity: Make a family ornament for 2013

Henry woke up today ready for preschool as it was hat day and Henry had a cool fedora style hat to wear. He got ready and did his Lego advent activity to build a Drop Ship and then headed off to preschool. Afterwards, we did the advent activity for the day which was to make a family ornament. This year, we tried something a bit more messy and involved which was a kind of glue-soaked yarn ornament design. Henry loved getting his hands in the glue and it made Dada very nervous to have messy stuff that can also stick to things. Dada did a bit more of the ornament as it turned out to be harder to explain but if it dries well, we may just have Henry do another one. The Jesus story of the day is "Ten ways to be perfect" (aka the 10 commandments). Henry's Q&A question was, "Can we or anyone else keep the ten commandments?" Answer is "No! Only God!"

Day 13 -

• Bible Story: The warrior leader

• Activity: Aidan's Christmas Musical

The second Friday advent activity was to go see Aidan's musical in the evening time. It's great to spend time with family and we were all very excited to hear Aidan perform. For morning Lego advent, Henry built a Battle droid. He commented how it was like the first droid but was tan and had legs! We met Aidan, Uncle Juan and Auntie Veronica for dinner at the Korean food court on El Camino and then headed over to the chapel at SCCS for his play. Henry enjoyed the songs but got a little restless near the end sitting on Mama's lap on the bleachers. It was all made better with the cookies, hot chocolate and more cookies in the show's after party. The Jesus story for the day was "The warrior leader" about Joshua and his overtaking of Jericho. Henry's Q&A question for the day is, "Who is going to be the new leader that will be in Christmas?" Answer is "Jesus!"
