Advent 2013 Day 4 & 5

Day 4 -

• Bible Story: A new beginning

• Activity: Christmas Movie - Twice Upon a Christmas

Day 4 was a combo day since it was also a Dotahoey day. Henry woke up but needed to finish his ziploc learning for the day so after opening up the advent activity, he needed to wait until evening to do his Lego. Today's creation was Koro-2 Exodrive airspeeder from the Attack of the Clones. Then hotpot commenced and food was flying all over the place. After dinner, Henry got to watch a Mickey Mouse movie called "Twice Upon a  Christmas" which had several Mickey and friends stories in 3D style animation. Henry had so much fun playing and then watching the hour long special that he ran out of time for the writing his FAQ. Tiredness meant that cranky Henry would have to read the Jesus Story another day.

Day 5 -

• Bible Story: A giant staircase to heaven

• Activity: Pick out and wrap Christmas gifts for other kids in need

On Day 5, Henry woke up refreshed and a better attitude and was ready to go. Today's advent activity was to "Pick out and wrap Christmas gifts for other kids in need." It's an important activity this year that we wanted to emphasize as Henry was starting to get caught up in the "me, me, me'ness" of the holidays. This year, we wanted Henry to use some of the points from his Dojo bank (point he collects for good behavior and practicing his Chinese) to buy the presents for kids in need and he was happy to do it. We picked out a train set and a cupcake party game at Toys 'R Us and dropped it off at the Toys for Tots bin while there. For his Lego activity, Henry built a cloud car. He then worked on his Christmas book and came up with two questions to catch up with yesterday's missed entry. Then it was off to Mama's chair for some snuggling and two stories from the Jesus story, "A new beginning" and "A giant staircase to heaven."
