Advent Activities- Two Lo's and a Tan: Advent 2014! Days 9 & 10

Day 9's activity was to pick out and wrap gifts for kids in need. We selected a couple gifts and spent some time walking Henry through the complicated steps of wrapping presents. Things like measuring the amount of wrap needed, cutting straight, pulling the paper tight, and "closing the doors" of the box ends all helped Henry learn the art of gift wrapping. Henry did better with each present he wrapped and he said that "I really liked learning to wrap presents."

Henry's verse on Day 9 was a familiar one, John 3:16 and he remembered the reflection this way: "If we accept God's gift (the Holy Spirit) and believe in Him, we will go to heaven."

Day 10 was one of Henry's specially picked activities - Pajama party with popcorn and a Christmas movie. Henry was so excited to have the regular Dotahoey crew and his cousins Aidan and Evie over for pajama night. Aidan, Evie, Auntie Veronica and Uncle Juan came over early and we made a feast of breakfast foods for Auntie Marilyn to celebrate her belated birthday as well. The menu included smoked salmon frittata, turkey and regular bacon, sausage links, blueberry waffles and breakfast muffins. Uncle Robert and Auntie Xiao brought over some delicious soup and the kids enjoyed lounging in front of the TV watching "Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas." A potpourri of popcorn (white chocolate and peppermint, chocolate drizzled) capped off the movie experience and the kids moved onto games (Sushi Go) and Angry Birds Jenga. Henry said "I really liked that lots of people came over and we had Aidan and Evie as a special visitor!"

Henry's verse for the evening was 1 John 4:9 which Henry summarized "God sent his one and only son for our lives and God will always love us."
